Thornton le Dale residents celebrate special visit from the Police
It was all smiles and no sirens when North Yorkshire Police recently stopped by The Hall care home in Thornton le Dale.
Part of a community drop-in initiative, officers spent the afternoon chatting with residents, sharing fascinating stories from their time in the force, and offering a hands-on experience with a range of police kit. From trying on helmets to testing out protective vests, residents embraced the opportunity, asking a range of questions about what life is like in the police force.
The visit represents North Yorkshire Police’s ongoing commitment to building positive relationships across all parts of the community, and the officers were met with a warm welcome from residents and staff alike.
Joyce, a resident at The Hall said: “It was fun to have the police here. Some of the uniform and equipment is amazing, I was surprised at how heavy the hats were!”
Diane Hagan, manager at The Hall said: “This visit has been a real highlight for our residents. It’s so important for them to feel connected to the wider community, and we are incredibly grateful to North Yorkshire Police for making this happen.”
