Moorgate Croft Resident Meg Celebrates 104th Birthday with BBC Interview

Residents and staff at Moorgate Croft were proud to celebrate a truly remarkable milestone as Meg Sewell marked her 104th birthday — an occasion made even more special with a visit from the BBC.

Born in Rotherham in 1922, Meg has lived in the town her entire life. A World War Two veteran and former local newspaper journalist, she has witnessed and contributed to over a century of history. During her birthday celebrations, Meg was interviewed by a BBC reporter and also took part in a radio interview, where she reflected on her wartime service with the Auxiliary Territorial Service, her career with the Rotherham Advertiser, and her thoughts on reaching 104 years young.

In the interview, Meg spoke about her pride in serving her country, the importance of community, and her belief that the secret to a long life is “moderation and being active.”
