Refurbishment and Extension!
The interior redecoration and refurbishment is now complete. This included painting throughout both inside and out, new carpets everywhere, new tables, new chairs, in fact pretty well new everything at Riverside!!
Brand New Wing for Dementia Sufferers in Barnsley

We are pleased to announce the opening of a purpose built, 17 bedroom wing for those suffering with dementia at Riverside. Created using our vast experience as a company on care of this client group, plus using the written guidelines on internal layout penned by professional experts in this field, the Oakwell Suite is a care facility they are intensely proud of. All spatial rooms have en suites, the very latest sophisticated technology in order to monitor every movement of the resident, yet maintain their privacy and dignity, thus creating a very safe environment and peace of mind for their loved ones. The wing is complimented by graceful, safe haven, internal courtyards, creating a home from home ambience.

We are enormously proud of what we have achieved here. Chairman Chris Mitchell recently told the Barnsley press: 'We have learned greatly from our experience of working with dementia sufferers at other locations and believe we have developed a beacon of care for this client group that others need to follow. The lack of credible understanding of dementia care is an area that the media has quite rightly cottoned on to and it is a travesty that more is not done to understand the needs of these residents, and to discover more about its prevention or at least the slowing down of these very distressing symptoms. We have created an environment that helps sufferers to live as normal a life as they are able, to stimulate fond memories, whilst enabling them to cope with every day life. Their surroundings are designed to offer safety and comfort, whilst ensuring that they have as much independence as we are able to safely provide. The whole scheme has been a joy to work on.'

Riverside is a luxurious single storey building, currently providing 33 single rooms of differing sizes and outlooks. Situated at the end of a quiet residential cul de sac, the home sits proudly within the local community.

Accommodation

33 bedrooms, many with en suite facilities and all with TV points, service call system and all those little niceties you would expect to see in accommodation of this quality. There are numerous cosy lounges to sit and relax, play board games, watch TV with friends or to just watch the world go by. For those special occasions we even have a bar!

Outside are well tended garden areas, patios and a pond to enjoy on those wonderful summer days!

Exciting developments are the addition early next year of a further 17 en suite bedrooms, large conservatory and internal courtyards to further add to the ambience of the home.

Location

The home is situated close to Barnsley town centre, in the suburb of Monk Bretton. Barnsley Football Club sits proudly in the distance, although you really would need to strain to watch them and even less likely so in the Premiership! Trips to local shops can be organised with ease, as well as other outings, but there is an abundance of activities and entertainment to make your stay with us as enjoyable as possible.

Catering

All our food is ordered locally and produced fresh every day, to ensure the very best in traditional home cooking. All dietary needs are catered for and although we provide a choice of dishes for every meal, if there is something you would like that is not displayed, you need only ask.

Laundry

A full laundry service is provided (with the exception of dry cleaning)

Visitors

We have ample car parking, no matter how many visitors we receive at the home and friends and relatives are encouraged to call at any time. We hold a complete open - door policy on this issue, as indeed you would at home!
